Client

Yeets is a forward-thinking startup dedicated to connecting businesses with top-tier freelance talent, in the IT sector. Founded in 2020, Yeets has experienced remarkable growth, achieving a significant increase in revenue in recent years. The platform boasts over 13 000 IT freelancers and collaborates with more than 80 leading companies. Built on values of transparency, fairness, and community, Yeets operates with a unique no-commission model, ensuring equitable opportunities for freelancers while delivering exceptional value to enterprise clients.

Product

The platform built using Bubble.io, is designed to connect businesses with freelancers efficiently and transparently. It offers tools to streamline the hiring process, making it easier for companies to find and collaborate with skilled professionals. Its no-commission model ensures that freelancers keep their full rates, promoting fairness. Yeets caters to both individual freelancers and enterprise clients, offering a scalable solution tailored to diverse requirements.

Business requirements

The main objectives were the following :

  • Balancing scalability and no-code constraints

  • Catering the experience to diverse user types

  • Improving visual design

  • Rapid delivery

Role & Contribution

As the sole designer on the project, I was responsible for all aspects of the redesign, focusing exclusively on the private user spaces—everything after login. I did not work on the public-facing website, which was managed separately.

Audit & Challenges

I began my mission by thoroughly exploring the product and its various aspects through a comprehensive UX audit. This involved analyzing user journeys for each type of user such as freelancers, full-time candidates, employers, and administrators. Since no Figma mockups existed, I documented the product by taking detailed screenshots of every screen on both desktop and mobile. These were compiled into a FigJam file, which I annotated with observations, questions, and suggestions for improvement.

After completing the analysis, I synthesized key areas for improvement, like the overall navigation, UI consistency, and user experience. To align the team, I facilitated a kickoff meeting at the office with the founders and team members. During this session, I presented my findings point by point and outlined a two-month project timeline, including weekly check-ins to ensure progress and alignment.

  • Complex navigation
The platform's navigation was often confusing and overloaded with similar user flows, making it challenging for users to find their way efficiently.

  • Overly technical wording
Some of the platform's copywriting used jargon and overly technical language, creating a barrier for users who might feel intimidated or confused.

  • Lengthy onboarding process
The onboarding process was too long, requiring users to go through numerous steps and answer many questions, which risked increasing drop-off rates.

  • No existing design foundation
The MVP was built directly in Bubble by a developer without any input from designers, resulting in the absence of mockups or design system. I had to start from scratch to ensure consistency and support future growth across three types of private spaces (freelancers, clients and admins).

  • Multiple user experiences
Designing an intuitive experience that addressed the distinct needs of freelancers, employers, and administrators while maintaining a cohesive visual identity required a good amount of flexibility with components and patterns.

  • Visual overhaul
Redesigning the platform to create a cleaner, more professional, and modern interface that aligned with Yeets’ branding and values.

  • No-code constraints
Ensuring that the designs could be seamlessly implemented within the Bubble framework without compromising usability or quality.

  • Tight timeline with limited resources
As the sole designer, I had to manage the entire design process, from ideation to delivery, while working within a rapid timeline and collaborating closely with stakeholders and the Bubble developer to meet deadlines.
